Walter Stanford Creative
ARTIST
What makes a great artist? One has only to consider what has been created on this earth and apply those lessons. The use of design, color and texture along with a strong understanding of form and function is a good starting place.

A 1986 graduate of East Carolina University, Walter spent the first 15 years of his professional career as a freelance illustrator. He designed and created visuals for clients across the country such as Entrepreneur Magazine, the Texas Restaurant Association, The Chicago Tribune, Carolinas Medical Center and others. His ability to develop strong concepts and visuals has served Walter well not only in illustration, but graphic design. Walter spent 6 years with the SELMARQ agency in Charlotte, NC and created award-winning visuals for the Material Handling Industry of America, Sonoco, Sundyne and others. In January of 2007, he launched Walter Stanford Creative which serves as a creative resource for various ad agencies, publishers, and corporations. This has also allowed him to incorporate fine art as a part of his business working primarily in pastel and acrylic. Walter is a member of the Pastel Society of NC, the Southeastern Pastel Society, the Piedmont Pastel Society and the Appalachian Pastel Society . He is represented by the Art Cellar Gallery in Banner Elk, NC and Art Source and Design in Charlotte, NC. For a list of past exhibitions of Walter’s work, click here.

Walter works out of his home where he lives with his wife Valerie and 2 dogs, Mac and Brady. In addition to the visual arts, Walter is an avid banjo player and plays just enough guitar and mandolin to be dangerous.
